Baby

On one raining night
alone drinking at a club,
you my baby
became my first
true love.

There was something
about you
that captured my heart,
unbeknownst to me
it was the beginning
of living
in the dark.

Not knowing
anything about you
I became smitten
with your
lady like charm,
never imaging you
would be the one
to cause
me harm.

I fell for you
as if I was
placed under a spell,
life at that point
became
a living hell.

For me to have you
I must follow your lead,
you’re being
the puppet master,
my heart couldn’t
be set free.

With total control
of my heart,
it caused me
not to see,
all the deceptions
you expect me
to believe.

You expect me
to be home
while you ran
the streets,
with your clothes
always in disarray
you weren’t
very discreet.

Every time
I ask you
where you been,
just like a broken record,
your favorite response is
“I been out with my friends.”

A true friend knows
you married
and
wouldn’t allow you
to return home
all times
of the night,
they would support you
in being a
loving wife.

I love me some you,
I thought I
needed you
in my life,
but only if
you plan to
do right.

If doing right
isn’t what you
believe,
then do me
a favor
and
set my heart
free.

Free me
from the burden
of loving you,
allow my heart
to find someone
who heart is
always true.

A heart that is
strong enough
to break your spell,
rescue me
from living
in hell.

What have I done
so bad in this life,
to have a person
like yourself
as a wife?

I believe
my heart is
pure
and
I live my life right,
now it’s time
for me to
put up a fight.

No more
will I see you
as a
righteous lady,
no more
will I be
calling you
my
BABY.
