Lack of active moderation and admining

So its come to this, why is the forum allowed to be over run with plumbus, spam, and posts posted wherever the OP deems fit? The forum is directionless, a joke almost and certainly not to be taken seriously.

Its very sad to see the forum looking like it does, at one time we had two passionate moderators who although a bit inexperienced were at least passionate about youtube and promoting video making and were therefore able to direct and show good practice to members.  At the moment users who come here certainly dont learn forum etiquette and theres a lack of experienced youtubers staying around and showing them how and giving actual decent advice.

Is anyone actually bothered about this?

I've set a direction for the site with a forced rule page upon registration, a welcome message to guide new members, and a post-block system that when triggered will remind users of the site's rules. There's not much else I can do to set a direction if user's are aware of it but decide not to follow it. I cannot change a user's attitude if they're coming here for the sole purpose of self-promotion and not the community aspect of the site, this is a forum and not a rehabilitation center for spammers. If they do not wish to follow the site's direction then that's up to them but action will be taken when they're reported.

Sorry you feel that way Bongo but I'm happy to still see you around the site.

Thats minimal basics, you cant just hope that once shown everyone then behaves. Im admin on many fb groups, every day theres something to do. Theres a lot you can do, pro actively moderate the forum on a daily basis would be a start. Delete the spam and duplicate threads from constant spammers without waiting for reports to be made. Ive stopped reporting as it seemed like that was all i was doing, come to the group, see a load of shit, report it, next time some of it would be gone but there would be fresh shit. You can change these users to non users quite simply and you do, i have noticed a few shit weasels gone and blocked but their bullshit posts still remain on the forum.

The role of admin and moderators is to keep the forum flowing for the posting of useful, relevant and engaging content/articles in threads to promote actual engagement and help the users get the most from youtube and all its aspects. Its your forum which you make money from, you should put the hours in if you want to see it grow and be recommended. What of the other admins and mods, do they also only react to reports? You need people who are passionate about youtube and this forum and unfortunately you dont have them and the ones you do have are being massively put off by the junk posts and the bullshit.

Can you please go to the youtube discussion forum and delete some of the sea of spam on there? Thanks.

This is a good place to do things on
Really enjoy it

The spam in the forum has destroyed it and pushed many good comment threads way down the list, its now all about begging for subs and views.

Check out youtube discussions at the moment, horrendous immature selfish spamming and bullshit, there are things concerning youtube that need discussion, its not happening here unfortunately.

Remember when we had mods that were a bit green but at least were passionate in making this place a resource for learning? Pepperidge farm does.

The amount of topics I have seen from users asking for subscribers is ridiculous... I want to be more active here but it annoys me seeing so many spam posts, so many breaking the rules and it irritates me
When is a good time to spam or beg? Never

@FallenHD BOOST every day theres about 7 new posts in what should be the main topic of dicussion just begging and blatantly ignoring the rules of the site. Its a shame that no one is stepping up and doing anything about it. Any sense of community has been strangled by the sea of selfish spamming, no real effort to ask for advice and no one interested in helping out and putting in serious effort.

@Wally ADMIN dont look in the developer community, I dont know where the last lot of admins came from but it was only Ryan that appeared to put in any sort of half hearted effort. Look towards the youtube community, people who have a passion for making good video and channels.

@bongo Thanks for the advice. I've been going through the YouTube discussions page and one thing I find consistent is new users with low post count are the ones spamming their channel links. I've disabled the ability to post URL links for users with less than 50 posts/comments. We'll see how that goes.

I'd say 70% of all threads there were channel links. I decided to just fully clear that forum and stick this message to the top of the forum

Hopefully with URL links disabled for new users we'll see a reduction in spam. And as I told you, I'm actively looking for more moderators to add to the team.
